Today I proudly signed Google’s petition to End Piracy, Not Liberty, and voted NO to SOPA and PIPA. As a website owner, blogger, and engaged member of the Internet community, I believe it is necessary to say no to these bills, and I urge everyone who cares about their individual freedoms and rights to do the same. You can sign the petition here.
I wanted to do my research and be sure that I fully understood the bills before signing, I am by no means a lawyer so I needed the quick, dirty, honest, and straight forward breakdown. I found that Mashable has a lot of great articles outlining all of the different aspects and viewpoints of SOPA and PIPA. I found this one “Why SOPA Is Dangerous” to be particularly interesting and helpful.
If you don’t want to see your favorite sites disappear (and yes, that includes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and more), do your research and take action!
